The Corporate Secretary handles administrative duties and tasks for an organization.

The Primary Objectives of a Corporate Secretary:

  • The Corporate Secretary primary objective is to be responsible for taking notes as well as the time of important meeting
  • The Corporate Secretary primary objective is to prepare letters, memos and other correspondence for executives.

The Corporate Secretary handles administrative functions and tasks for his/her organization. The Corporate Secretary directly reports to the president of the company, CEO, or corporate executive. The Corporate Secretary performs fundamentals clerical duties such as answering phone calls, typing invoices, handling outgoing and incoming mail and so on. The Corporate Secretary is responsible for taking notes of the details as well as the minutes of important meetings. The Corporate Secretary should be at ease functioning with superior executives.

The Corporate Secretary is expected to prepare letters, memos and other correspondence for the executives. The Corporate Secretary greets visitors to the office. The Corporate Secretary makes travel arrangements for the executives as well as schedules meetings for them. The Corporate Secretary processes invoices, prepares executive expense reports, orders supplies, sends faxes and sorts incoming mail. The Corporate Secretary scans, makes copies of and files documents. There are instances that the Corporate Secretary takes dictation or meeting minutes.

The Corporate Secretary must skilled in usual office software packages. The Corporate Secretary needs to have strong written and verbal communication skills, mathematical skills, grammar, punctuation, spelling and proofreading abilities. The Corporate Secretary should have great typing speed. The Corporate Secretary needs to have an outgoing personality and the capability to maintain confidentiality. The Corporate Secretary should be at ease to work independently in a fast-paced environment and/or knows how to work as a member of a team.
