Marketing Manager Job Description

 


A Marketing Manager must develop, establish and maintain marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Marketing Manager manages and coordinates all marketing, advertising and promotional staff and activities.
  • The Marketing Manager conducts market research to determine market requirements for existing and future products.
  • The Marketing Manager analysis of customer research, current market conditions and competitor information.
  • The Marketing Manager develops and implements marketing plans and projects for new and existing products.
  • The Marketing Manager manages the productivity of the marketing plans and projects.
  • The Marketing Manager monitors, reviews and reports on all marketing activity and results.
  • The Marketing Manager must also determine and manage the marketing budget.

The Marketing Manager has many responsibilities from developing strategies to sell the product to controlling the way the product is presented at the present time. Since the Marketing Manager is the one who manages all marketing and advertising involved with the company products they must make sure that those who are on the staff adhere to the policies and rules that promote good activities. The staff may be creative at times but must let the Marketing Manager know what they have in mind before they proceed with their marketing plans. The department is put on a budget so it is vital that everyone adhere to the plans that are created by the team for promotional development of new products.

The Marketing Manager must have a business or marketing related degree or equivalent professional qualification. The Marketing Manager should have experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining marketing strategies. The Marketing Manager must have good technical marketing skills with proven experience in customer and market research. The Marketing Manger needs experience with software applications pertaining to marketing creativity and data base entry.

The Marketing Manager is expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organization and planning should be at the top of any Marketing Manager training programming. A Marketing Manager should have good problem solving and analysis skills. The Marketing Manager is the team-leader and must be able to motivate the team as a unit and individual motivation for team members who need it. The Marketing Manager must be able to hold formal presentations for the team, clients and executives. The Marketing Manager must be able to be very persuasive convincing others to accept the concepts that are put forth on product and service. The judgment that the Marketing Manager makes concerning promotional avenues towards the product must meet with company standards. The Marketing Manager needs to keep a tight control on how sales are going and what eras needs to be improved In order to make more sales. Most Marketing Managers watch the performance of the sales people on their team very closely making sure that they are giving top results. Unfortunately, in this avenue many times the Marketing Manager will need to replace a sales person who is not performing well out in the field.

The heartbeat of all companies is the sales of a product or service without significant sales then the company cannot be successful. All the departments do their part to help the company run smoothly but the backbone is the Marketing Manager. He alone is the one who has the full responsibility of getting the product out to the consumer and getting the consumer to try the product. The one who makes the product and packages have to make sure that it is the type of product the consumer will want to buy again and again. In order for the consumer to make that informative decision the Marketing Manager needs to get the product in their hands. This task can be difficult at times when the product has a lot of competition from other companies who make and present the same type of product. The purpose of the Marketing Manager is to insure that the consumer believes that his company makes the best and most desired product in the line. This takes a lot of creativity along with persuasive abilities by the whole marketing team. The Marketing Manager directs his team but he is held accountable for their results. That is why it is important that he keeps a close watch on their capabilities and help them when they need coaching.
