Department of Energy Job Description

Formed after the oil crisis on August 8, 1977 by former President Jimmy Carter, the Department of Energy is a department of the US government at a cabinet level that is concerned with the policies involving energy and the safety in handling nuclear material. The Department of Energy takes responsibility in the nation’s nuclear weapons program, the production of nuclear reactor by the US Navy, energy conservation and research, radioactive waste disposal, and domestic energy production.

  • Department of Energy Industry Economist Job Description

The Industry Economist skillfully conducts economic analyses to the Energy sector or sub- sector. He/she will plan, design, and perform tests and studies to gather data and gain knowledge regarding issues and problems and subject these data to the effects of policies and policy options. After analysis of gathered data and study results he/she will then need to advice managers of the positive and negative effects of policies and policy options.

The Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist is a position that will act as the Director for the Office of Communication and External Affairs. He/she will also is responsible for identifying developmental needs and ensuring the accuracy of position description. He/she will also be the one to release policy/position/public statements and analyze and evaluate such statements as well as all reports from the media, tribal agendas, and civic positions.

You will also have to take part in making policies and guidelines that makes impact on DOE NEPA compliance program.
