I started working at TGI Friday’s as a cook in 1996 for a start rate of $7.50 per hour, worked until 2003 with an end rate $10.50 per hour. I started that job with two years previous restaurant experience under my belt.

Hours are flexible, but pay is LOUSY. 50 cent per hour raise per year, $1 per hour raise at the most if you are lucky and beg! Plus you rarely get full time hours (average 28 hrs per week)
To get full time hours; they send other line cooks home, and you have to work your ass off.

Hell, I do far better as a police officer, driving around for 8 hours (listening to the FM radio/CD player in a brand new Dodge Charger), answering a few calls for service, generate a report or two, eat out where I want, and get far better treatment from my employer. Not to leave out the fact that I get fours hours call back for every time I go to court, and that pays our pretty darn good at the end of the year!
