Owner Representative Job Description

Regardless of the type of company, owner representatives play a crucial part in maintaining a successful operation in an industry. Read on for the job description of an owner’s representative.

What is an owner representative?

Owner’s representatives serve as advisers to the project owner in the construction and design of an industry. An owner’s representative oversees construction and the design of buildings and facilities making sure that the owner’s interests are considered throughout the process.

Duties of an owner representative

  • An owner’s representative should be knowledgeable on the entire aspects of construction and the design of an industry. Whenever problems arise, these professionals provide solutions to many small scale problems while eliminating larger problems that arise and recommending solutions to the project owner.
  • Owner’s representatives work with their project owners regarding land acquisition as well as the close out of their construction process. Other duties offered by an owner’s representative includes field supervision, budgeting and cost control.
  • Majority of owner’s representatives are utilized in huge and high-profile construction projects.
  • Regardless of product type or services they sell, their foremost tasks are to attract buyers as well as purchasing agents in their services or merchandise and to properly address clients’ concerns and questions. Owner’s representative demonstrates products and advises their clients on the function of the products in order to increase revenue and reduce costs. They also spend ample time visiting and travelling with their prospective clients and buyers.

Condition of work

Owner’s representatives have great work environments. They mostly work in the office and interact with people regarding the merchandise. They may also work in long hours depending on their customer’s needs.

Educational Requirements

In order to become an owner’s representative, aspiring candidates are required to submit a GED or a high school diploma or any equivalent. However, most employers prefer candidates with a bachelor’s degree in finance, management or communication. Prior work experience is also preferable in any related field. Candidates with a master’s degree usually get a high-profile position with quick promotions.

Occupation and Progress

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the average annual wage expectations for representatives differ greatly on the type of clients represented as well as the size of company. Customer service or sales representatives usually earn about $40,000 up to $80,000 per annum while financial services representatives and owner’s representatives earn about $40,000 up to $122,000 per annum with excellent job prospects on years to come.
