The Animal Control Worker handles for the purpose of investigations of mistreatment, or control of abandoned, dangerous, or unattended animals.

Tasks for Animal Control Workers

  • The Animal Control Worker investigates reports of animal attacks or animal cruelty, interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence, and writing reports.
  • The Animal Control Worker captures and removes stray, uncontrolled, or abused animals from undesirable conditions, using nets, nooses, or tranquilizer darts as necessary.
  • The Animal Control Worker examines animals for injuries or malnutrition, and arrange for any necessary medical treatment.
  • The Animal Control Worker euthanizes rabid, unclaimed, or severely injured animals.
  • The Animal Control Worker supplies animals with food, water and personal care.
  • The Animal Control Worker cleans facilities and equipment such as dog pens and animal control trucks.
  • The Animal Control Worker prepares for prosecutions related to animal treatment, and give evidence in court.
  • The Animal Control Worker educates the public about animal welfare, and animal control laws and regulations.
  • The Animal Control Worker contact animal owners to inform them that their pets are at animal holding facilities.
