Process Control Programmer Job Description
The Process Control Programmer develops programs to control machining or processing of parts by automatic machine tools, equipment, or systems.
Tasks for Process Control Programmer:
- The Process Control Programmer determines the sequences of machines operations, and selects the proper cutting tools needed to machine work pieces into the desired shapes.
- The Process Control Programmer revises programs and/or tapes to eliminate errors, and retests programs to check that problems have been solved.
- The Process Control Programmer analyzes job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, printed circuit board pattern films, and design data in order to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
- The Process Control Programmer determines references points, machine cutting paths, or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, curvatures.
- The Process Control Programmer observes machines on trial runs or conducts computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.
- The Process Control Programmer compares encoded tapes or computer printouts with original part specifications and blueprints to verify accuracy of instructions.
