Warehouse Picker Job Description
The warehouse pickers are responsible for keeping merchandise organized and ready to sell. The warehouse pickers select warehouse merchandise to replace items sold by retail stores the day before.
Responsibilities:
- The warehouse pickers handle the inventory control and supply chains as a warehouse helper, shipping and receiving clerk or traffic coordinator.
- They sort and organize merchandise so that it can be easily located.
- They must know the functions of each department, as they often work throughout the warehouse and perform work for other departments.
- They keep records of items received and damaged merchandise returned.
- They also tags and places stock inventory as it is received from vendors.
- They maintain quality control standards by checking items as they come in.
Skills:
- The warehouse pickers must be able to operate a stand-up forklift operation.
- They are also required to be able to lift 50 lbs.
- They must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to bend and reach overhead.
- They must be able to work under deadline pressure as organizational skills are the key to finding and providing merchandise quickly.
Knowledge:
- The warehouse picker should at least be a high school graduate.
Having knowledge about warehouses is a plus.
