The Insurance Claims Clerk must obtain information from insured or designated persons for purpose of settling claim with insurance carrier.

Duties:

The Insurance Claims Clerk reviews insurance policies to determine coverage. The Insurance Claims Clerk prepares insurance claims forms and related documents and reviews them for completeness. The Insurance Claims Clerk provides customer service, such as limited instructions on proceeding with claims or referrals to auto repair facilities or local contractors. The Insurance Claims Clerk organizes and works with detailed office or warehouse records, using computers to enter, access, search and retrieve data. The Insurance Claims Clerk posts or attaches information to claim files. The Insurance claims Clerk often pays small claims. The Insurance Claims Clerk transmits claims for payment or further investigation. The Insurance Claims Clerk contacts insured or other involved persons to obtain missing information. The Insurance Claims Clerk must calculate amount of claim. The Insurance Claims Clerk applies insurance rating systems.

Knowledge:
