Clinical Educator Job Description

One of the noblest jobs of all is being an educator. An educator is one of the pillars of a progressive society. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing your students successful because you know that you are part of that success that they have attained. One type of an educator is a Clinical Educator. This is a rewarding job since you will train members of the health team to provide quality care to client.

What is a Clinical Educator?

A Clinical Educator can be a registered nurse or an advanced practice nurse who gives training and development to nurses in a hospital or a medical facility. This professional makes educational programs and educates nurses to meet the institutions competency requirements for the nursing staff. They also promote the best quality care for patients.

Duties of a Clinical Educator

  • Clinical Educators makes curriculum for nurse educator programs. They lecture healthcare subject to unlicensed nursing students as well as to practicing nurses.
  • A Clinical Educator is the one who assess the skills and knowledge of nursing students in cooperation with the other nurses and members of the health team to create immense learning experiences for the improvement of the students’ skill and professional growth.
  • Clinical Educators also provides instructions, guides and supervises students, devise curriculum and course outline, evaluate the learning needs and capacity and document the outcome of the educational process.
  • The goal of this Clinical Educator is to extend help, or assist the nurses and student nurses in recognizing their weaknesses and strengths to develop what is deficient in them.

Work Condition of a Clinical Educator

  • This work would demand sitting, standing and walking. So a candidate must be able to work under physically and emotionally stressful conditions. They work in the school for lectures and in the hospital or clinics for actual care of patients.
  • They can be exposed to communicable diseases. Safety precautions are encouraged especially when they are in direct contact with contagious patients or handling body secretions from this patient.

Educational Requirements of a Clinical Educator

  • For you to become a Clinical Educator the employers would usually require at least a four-year bachelor’s degree in nursing but they would also prefer a master’s degree in nursing that is referred to as an advanced practice nurse that especially concentrates in nurse education. In addition, a valid state nursing license is also required for this job.

Occupation and Progress of a Clinical Educator

  • This profession is an increasing demand for this occupation so you can expect that they are actually well-paid. But before you take in your dream to enter this career, first you have to evaluate yourself because you are going to serve as a change advocate for those students who want to be a nurse. You have to love teaching apart from something else so that whatever situation that you would face you would be effective as an educator and teacher to your students and your colleagues.
